To-may-toe or To-mah-toe, Prah-leen or Pray-leen? Does it even matter? To some, the pronunciation of the word Praline is serious business! So the debate rages on about the pronunciation.
The pronunciations varies from region to region. In the southern regions or anywhere in South Louisiana, Pralines are pronounced Prah-leens or Pecan Candy, and the little nuts that are inside the Prah-leens are called Puh-cahns.
In the Northern region (anyone who lives North of Baton Rouge, LA) or the Yankees as my husband so affectionately calls them, the Pralines are pronounced Pee-Can Pray-leens, but when Louisiana Candy Co. makes them, we call them delicious!
